About Richard
Born in Auckland and raised in Dunedin, Richard joined Rutherford Rede in 2011 after building his career in the United Kingdom, where he worked for several leading global investment banks. His experience across investment management, financial markets and client advice, provides him a strong foundation for helping clients navigate their strategic planning and life-style goals.
Richard is passionate about helping clients build confidence in their financial futures. He believes successful financial advice is built on strong, informed relationships and seeks to develop a mutual understanding with his clients of the drivers of long-term success; be it investment related or more focused on his client’s personal financial and lifestyle goals.
An Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®), Richard’s client base is well-rounded with successful clients from a range of business backgrounds and life stages, meaning he can draw on experience across varied situations to be able to help a wide range of clients with their unique circumstances.
As Managing Director, Richard leads the firm's strategic direction while remaining actively involved in advising clients and supporting the development of the advisory team. He heads the management team, helping to ensure the firm maintains the highest standards of investment governance, client care and regulatory compliance.
Outside of work, Richard enjoys spending time with his wife Sarah and their two teenage children. A keen golfer, he has now introduced his son to the game and they enjoy (or suffer, depending on the day) it together. Having completed both the Paris and Auckland marathons and numerous half-marathons, he now keeps active through mountain biking with both kids, football refereeing, golfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and spending time as a family in Taupo.
Richard's combination of international investment experience, leadership expertise and commitment to helping others achieve their goals continues to shape the values and direction of Rutherford Rede.
