About Herna

Herna joined Rutherford Rede in 2018, bringing seven years of financial planning industry experience from South Africa. Since joining the firm, she has played a pivotal role in its growth and evolution, progressing through operational, client service and leadership positions before being appointed General Manager. As General Manager, Herna is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business and ensuring the firm continually delivers a high-quality experience for both clients and staff. She is passionate about creating efficient systems, strengthening processes and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.

Herna has been instrumental in developing and refining Rutherford Rede's financial planning processes, compliance frameworks and operational systems. Her leadership helps ensure the business remains well-positioned to support clients, meet regulatory requirements and maintain the high standards for which the firm is known. Known for her analytical approach, attention to detail and collaborative leadership style, Herna enjoys finding practical solutions to complex challenges and helping the team achieve its goals. She is committed to creating an environment where advisers and support staff can thrive, ultimately enabling better outcomes for clients.

In addition to her leadership responsibilities, Herna remains actively involved in financial advice, giving her valuable insight into both the strategic and practical aspects of delivering exceptional client service.

Outside of work, Herna enjoys spending time with her husband, Simon, their son, and supporting her daughter as she embarks on her university studies. As a family, they love exploring New Zealand's beautiful outdoors and making the most of the opportunities their adopted home has to offer.
