About Henry

Henry Ford has been providing financial advice since 2007 and joined Rutherford Rede as a shareholder in 2015. His career combines extensive leadership experience with a desire to helping people make confident financial decisions.

Raised on a farm in mid-Canterbury, then graduating from Lincoln College, he spent time in the rural sector before building a successful career in banking, holding senior leadership roles with the Rural Bank, National Bank and Westpac.

In 2007, Henry left banking to establish his own financial planning business. Starting during the Global Financial Crisis was challenging, but it reinforced his belief that quality advice is most valuable when people face uncertainty. After meeting Phil Ashton and Jocelyn Weatherall, he eventually merged his business with Rutherford Rede.

What Henry enjoys most about financial advice is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. He believes financial planning is about more than money—it is about helping clients feel organised, confident and prepared for whatever life brings. The trusted relationships built with clients over time are among the most rewarding aspects of his work.

Outside the office, family is at the centre of Henry’s life. He and his wife Marg have been married for more than four decades and enjoy spending time with their three children and growing number of grandchildren. He remains connected to his farming roots through community food-growing projects, serves as Chair of Macular Degeneration New Zealand, and enjoys cycling, golf and yoga.

Today, Henry continues to play an active role at Rutherford Rede, supporting clients and colleagues while enjoying the people, purpose and values that make the firm such a special place to work.
